Napa Photographer, School Wrestling Coach Arrested on Alleged Child Porn Charges

Suspect allegedly was distributing child porn files by computer.

A Napa man was arrested this morning on suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Richard Rachfal was taken into custody at about 10:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Fairfax Drive in Napa.

An hour earlier, at 9:30 a.m., Napa Police Department's investigative unit served a search warrant at the home, according to Napa Lt. Debbie Peecook

"During this investigation, it was identified that an unknown suspect at this residence was involved in peer-to-peer file sharing of child pornography," Peecook said. "Two of the specific dates that the file sharing site was accessed were on July 4 and July 5."

Napa Police Department seized numerous computers from the residence. There was evidence of digital files containing child pornography, she added.

"Evidence gathered at the scene showed the suspect was identified at Richard Rachfal,  also known as Scott Rachfal," Peecook said. "Contact was made with Rachfal and he was determined to be the suspect downloading and distributing child pornography."

According to police, Rachfal was cooperative with the investigation and admitted to downloading child pornography for five to six years.

Rachfal has a part-time profession as a photographer in Napa County. He has also been a wrestling coach for high schools in Napa County. It is unknown at this time if Rachfal was responsible for taking any photographs or creating child pornography videos.

If anyone has any information in regards to Rachfal involved in child pornography please contact Investigator Todd Shulman at 257-9575.
