The person elected will complete the term of Liz Alessio, who was elected to the Napa County Board of Supervisors in the June Primary.

NAPA, CA — The city of Napa encourages residents of District 1 to apply for an upcoming vacancy on the City Council following Councilmember Liz Alessio's election to the Napa County Board of Supervisors in the June primary.

City officials said it opens up a unique opportunity for District 1 community members passionate about making a difference to step into a leadership role. The city's redistricting map shows the district along state Highway 29, north of Redwood Road and Trancas Street.

The Napa City Council comprises a mayor and four council members who make policy decisions and oversee essential city services and programs. The council also appoints the city manager, city attorney, city clerk and members of city commissions, committees and boards.

Councilmembers serve a four-year term and attend council meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. In the recent general election, Councilmembers Beth Painter (District 2) and Bernardo "Bernie" Narvaez (District 4) ran uncontested and won reelection to their seats. The newly appointed member will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, ending in December 2026.

"Councilmember Alessio’s dedication to Napa has been invaluable, and we’re incredibly grateful for her service," said Mayor Scott Sedgley, who recently won reelection in the Nov. 5 election. "As we look to the future, we’re excited to welcome a new voice from District 1—someone passionate about our community and ready to make a difference. If you’re committed to Napa’s growth and well-being and have a passion for public service, I encourage you to apply."
