POLICE LOG: Willful Cruelty, Threats, Sexual Battery, Drug Possession

Napa Police arrest multiple suspects in last few days.


  A 33-year-old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery, parole violation and annoying a child under age 18.

Thomas Andrew Mutert was taken into custoday just before noon Saturday at 1380 Napa Town Center in Napa.

According to police, Mutert approached a 17-year-old female victim while in McCaulous Department store.

 Mutert allegedly reached for and grabbed the victim`s hip/abdomen area with both hands and pulled victim towards him, police said.

The victim pushed Mutert away from her and Mutert again reached for and grabbed her arms.  The victim was able to push Mutert away and escape.  Mutert ran out the west door of McCaulous.

Mutert was located a short time later at Napa County Crisis and admitted to the assault for sexual gratification purposes. The Mutert is on parole for the same type of offense. A parole hold was issued by the California Department Corrections.  Mutert was placed under arrest, transported and booked.

 A 40-year-old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substance and transporting it for sale.

Jacinto Garcia-Navarro was taken into custoday at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 2100 block of G Street in Napa.

Police said Garcia-Navarro was stopped for a vehicle code violation in the 1600 block of G Street. Officers asked Garcia if they could search his vehicle and he agreed.

Officers allegedly found a plastic bundle containing crushed Vicodin pills on the driver’s floorboard.  

Garcia-Navarro did not have a prescription for the drug and was taken into custody and booked.

A 20-year-old Napa man was arrested on suspicion of felony grand theft, possessing a stolen vehicle and probation violation.

Brendon James Silva was taken into custody at 1:10 a.m. Sunday at 2670 Yajome St. in Napa.

Police said an officer was checking a suspicious vehicle parked in the McPherson Elementary School parking lot. The vehicle, a 2001 Chrysler Sebring, returned stolen out of Vallejo.

The officer exited his patrol car and saw a subject walking through the park nearby. The subject reported that several people ran from the park towards the school upon the officer’s arrival.

This subject indicated he knew the driver of the Chrysler as Brendon Silva.

A search of the school was conducted and Silva located. Silva claimed he just bought the vehicle from an unknown person in Vallejo, police said.

Silva was arrested, transported and booked.

A 53-year-old Napa woman was arrested on suspicion of use of force, willful cruelty to a child and making threats with intent to terrorize.

Patricia Hopper was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 2700 block of Soscol Avenue in Napa.

Police said officers responded to an apartment in the 2700 block of Soscol Avene to a report of an altercation involving a knife.

 Upon arrival, it was determined that Hopper was very intoxicated and armed herself with a knife during an argument with the victim, police said.

She charged the victim with a knife and made statements she was going to kill him. Hopper’s teenager intervened and Hopper made the same threats towards the teenager, police said.

The teenager made a grab for the knife and they went to the ground. The victim was able to get the knife away from Hopper.

 Hopper was arrested and booked.
