POLICE: Yountville Man Suspected of Stealing Cough Medicine, Energy Drink

Willliam W. Daly Jr. allegedly took $46.32 worth of items from Safeway in Napa.

A 35-year-old Yountville man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing seven bottles of cough medicine and an energy drink from Safeway market in Napa.

William W. Daly Jr. was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary and shoplifting at about 1:45 p.m. at the Safeway at 3375 Jefferson St.

Police said the incident began when a Safeway Loss Prevention Officer watchedΒ  Daly open packages of cough medicine.

Daly allegedly concealed the contents of these packages in his pockets. Daly also allegedly selected an energy drink and opened it.

Police said Daly left the store without paying for the items.

Daly was contacted outside the business and taken into custody.

In total, Daly concealed seven bottles of Robitussin cough medicine and also took one 24 oz. can of Red Bull, Police said.

The total loss was valued at $46.32.

Daly was arrested and booked at Napa County Department of Corrections.
