Recently retired Senator Bill Dodd announced today that the totals are in for his 25th annual charity fundraiser. The event netted just over $800,000 to support local nonprofits. The fundraiser was held in December and it also served as Senator Dodd's retirement from 25 years of elected public service, with recognitions from Governor Gavin Newsom and Senate President pro Tem Mike McGuire, among others.

“It never ceases to amaze me how generous the people of Napa Valley are, and what we can accomplish when we all work together,” said Dodd. “The kindness and civic spirit here is incredible, and it is why I feel blessed every single day to call our special part of the world home.”

Over the last quarter century, Senator Dodd has raised nearly $11 million for local charities. Many organizations have benefited. This year, the proceeds endowed a donor advised fund created by Senator Dodd, allowing charitable grants to benefit the community for years and generations to come from the fund’s interest.

“After all these years of doing an annual fundraiser, I wanted to provide a permanent funding source to fill needs and bolster our community,” Dodd said.

Senator Dodd also announced today that initial donations from the endowment includes $25,000 to the Napa Communities Firewise Foundation and $40,000 to the Napa Valley Community Foundation. Wildfire prevention and safety was a major priority in Senator Dodd’s legislative career with him securing tens of millions of dollars locally and passing dozens of bills to protect the public.
