St. Helena Shuts Down Water Main For Repair

Wednesday's planned temporary outage impacts customers in the Madrone Knolls neighborhood and the Meadowood Resort area.

ST. HELENA, CA β€”The city of St. Helena's Public Works Department on Wednesday plans to repair the 8-inch water main that serves the Madrone Knoll and Meadowood Resort area. This work requires the main to be shut down, which will affect approximately 45 customers of the Madrone Knoll neighborhood and Meadowood Resort.

The repair work is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday and continue until 4 p.m. During this time, customers in the Madrone Knoll/Meadowood area will not have water service.

Once work is complete, city crews will flush approximately 18,000 gallons of water for disinfection. Then the city will collect samples to confirm the water remains safe for consumption.

"The city of St Helena appreciates your patience as we work to improve the quality of drinking water provided to the residents and businesses of St. Helena," said Andrew Bradley, assistant to the city manager.

The city noted that the flow velocity required for properly flushing the system makes it too dangerous to attempt to capture the water for other uses.
