Steele Fire: 8 Structures Destroyed, 4 Damaged In Napa

NAPA COUNTY, CA — A fire in Napa County that erupted Saturday afternoon destroyed eight structures and damaged four others by Sunday afternoon. The Steele Fire was about 150 acres and 60 percent contained as of Sunday afternoon, Cal Fire officials said.
The fire ignited around 4:30 p.m. off of Arroyo Grande Drive and Steele Canyon Road in Capell, prompting the evacuation of homes on Berryessa Highlands and Pleasure Cove.
It isn't yet known how the fire started. Firefighters from Cal Fire and Napa County Fire departments, along with resources from Yolo and Solano counties, the Napa County Sheriff's Department and the California Highway Patrol.

The Steele Fire was one of several to burn across the state this weekend, including the Carr Fire in Shasta County, which killed five people as of Sunday and displaced another 38,000.
The fires prompted President Trump to declare a federal emergency.

Evacuations were in place Sunday afternoon in the road closure areas, CalFire said. All other evacuations have been lifted. Headlands Drive remains closed at West Ridge Drive to Headlands Drive, including Woodhaven Court.
An evacuation center is located at Crosswalk Community Church.
"Firefighters continue to make progress throughout the day," the agency said in an incident report.
Starting at 2 p.m., all roads in the Berryessa Highlands will be opened, however Headlands Drive will be closed at West Ridge Drive South, including Woodhaven Court.
