Strong Winds In Forecast For Napa Area, North Bay: Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for hills across the Bay Area, with the strongest gusts in the Napa area.

NORTH SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, CA — The National Weather Service is predicting strong winds across the hills above 1,000 feet of altitude across the Bay Area from Friday night into Saturday morning. The strongest winds are expected to start around 8 p.m. Friday in the Napa area, with sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph and frequent gusts up to 50 mph, NWS San Francisco Bay Area stated in wind advisory.

This could lead to a number of hazards including blowing debris, falling limbs from weakened trees and damaged power lines.

Wind-driven wildfires are also a possibility. That could be exacerbated by the temperature, as Friday is expected to be one of the hottest days so far this year.
