VW Bug Driver Dies In Napa Co. Collision With Big-Rig
BREAKING: A Lake County man was killed in the crash Tuesday near Calistoga.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — A Lakeport man was killed in a head-on collision between his Volkswagen and a big-rig near Calistoga just before noon today, according to the California Highway Patrol. John Michael Norin, 73, was driving the Volkswagen west on Petrified Forest Road near Franz Valley School Road around 11:59 a.m. Tuesday, CHP Officer Marc Renspurger said.
At the same time, a 51-year-old Inverness man was driving a 2000 Peterbilt tractor east on Petrified Forest Road, Renspurger said.
Norin then drove the Volkswagen across the solid, double-yellow lines into the path of the big-rig, Renspurger said. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital by a CHP helicopter and died later of his injuries,
Renspurger said.

The big-rig's driver was not injured in the collision.
Traffic was affected by the crash for about two and a half hours, and the cause is under investigation, Renspurger said.
