Wildfire Breaks Out Overnight At Lake Berryessa
The blaze briefly closed state Highway 128 as firefighters battled the blaze in rugged terrain.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters battled a wildfire early Thursday morning near the Monticello Dam at Lake Berryessa.
Around 3 a.m., Cal Fire's Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit and Napa County Fire responded to a vegetation fire that extended to steep, rugged terrain along the lake side of state Highway 128. The blaze burned approximately one acre of brush and grass before firefighters stopped its progress.
By 6:21 a.m., the wildfire was declared 50 percent contained and Highway 128 was reopened to traffic.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
"Be advised there will be fire apparatus in the area throughout the morning," Cal Fire said. "There is also one-way traffic control for construction about a half mile west from the scene of the fire."

Near-critical fire weather is expected to continue in the region through Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.
