Newport Beach officials are asking residents and visitors to "make a splash, pick up trash" with the city's new anti-litter campaign.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — As more residents and visitors flock to Newport Beach's beaches to stay cool during the summer, the city has launched an anti-litter campaign to remind people to clean up after themselves.

The first part is about education and awareness, reminding "residents, business owners, visitors and city government" that it's a group effort to keep Newport Beach clean, city officials said.
"Our city crews and contractors do a great job of cleaning and maintaining our public spaces, but they can't be everywhere, at all times," Newport Beach officials said.

Campaign signs reminding people to pick up after themselves are posted around the city's beach areas, including entrances, parks and city facilities.
The second part of the campaign is the city's updated and expanded volunteer program that better aligns "individual volunteers and groups with the areas of the city that need the most attention," Newport Beach officials said.
