COSTA MESA, CA — A Costa Mesa man was arrested Thursday after being accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of trading cards, according to authorities.

Police say the man stole $45,000 worth of Pokémon and other anime cars from someone's car in Orange County.

Detectives later found that the suspect was selling the stolen cards online and took him into custody in connection with the theft, according to the Irvine Police Department, who said he was "captured faster than you could throw a poké ball."

The suspect was identified by police as 53-year-old Paul David Hastings.

In a video posted by the Irvine police department, an officer can be heard asking the suspect if they had any Pokémon cards.

The suspect answers "no", while the officer responds saying "Dang, I was hoping to catch them all."
