Newport Beach To Celebrate New Phase Of Sculpture Exhibit This Weekend

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Members of the public are invited to Civic Center Park this Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of the Sculpture Exhibition's latest phase.

Newport Beach's City Arts Commission will host the grand opening for Phase VII of the exhibition, and it will be from 1 to 4 p.m.

The grand opening will feature a dedication ceremony for the newest wave of sculptures displayed at the park through June 2023.

The event is free for the public to attend and will feature live music and activities for children, City Arts Commission officials said.

The Sculpture Exhibition began in 2013. Artists loan their sculptures to Newport Beach for two years as part of the rotating exhibit.

Artists are responsible for their sculpture's repair and maintenance during the display period and are paid a small honorarium in return.

The Newport Beach City Council approved the latest phase of the exhibit in February.

The sculptures and artists featured in Phase VII are:

  • "The Archeology of the Every Day" by Tyler Burton
  • "Where Have All The Birds Gone?" by Marguerite Elliot
  • "Prey" by Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson
  • "To the Moon" by Alex G
  • "A Novel Idea" by Craig Gray
  • "Pathway Parabola" by Greg Mueller
  • "Eve" by Joe Forrest Sackett
  • "Pluma Sculpture a.k.a. 'The Feather'" by Kirk Seese
