Newport Beach To Hold Abandoned Boat Auction This Month At Harbor
The Newport Harbor Abandoned Vessel Auction in May will only accept cash payments.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Abandoned boats will be auctioned off on May 20 by the Newport Harbor Department.
The auction will mostly feature small, manually-powered boats that were impounded by the Orange County Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol and never reclaimed by their owners.
The abandoned vessel auction will be at the Harbor Department, and a viewing of the available boats will be held from 9 to 9:59 a.m. The auction will start at 10 a.m., Newport Beach officials said.

The auction will only accept cash payments, and boats are sold as-is.
Winning bidders are responsible for removing their boats from Newport Harbor by 5 p.m. on the day of the auction. The Harbor Department can also hold auctioned boats for a 10-day redemption period following the auction, city officials said.
