"We thank Chief Lewis for his many years of service and wish him the very best in retirement."Deputy Chief Joe Cartwright will serve as acting chief as Newport Beach officials begin a search for a new chief.Lewis, who has been chief since 2016, started working for Newport Beach police in 1991 and worked his way up to the top of the ranks.City News Service
