OC Man Arrested In Hit-And-Run That Left Woman Critically Injured In Newport Beach

A 28-year-old Santa Ana man was arrested for hit-and-run driving Sept. 30, the Newport Beach Police Department reported.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A Santa Ana man was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 30 following a hit-and-run that left a woman critically injured in Newport Beach, authorities said.

Rafael Torres, 28, was arrested for felony hit-and-run resulting in injury and booked into the Newport Beach Jail, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

Torres was arrested Tuesday at around 4:15 p.m. after investigators conducted surveillance and found the suspect vehicle in the area of McFadden Avenue and Harbor Boulevard in the City of Santa Ana.

The crash was reported at about 10:25 p.m. Monday to the area of MacArthur Boulevard and East Coast Highway, where they found a woman laying in the roadway.

Paramedics rushed her to a trauma center, where she was listed in critical condition. She was only identified as a 48-year-old Newport Beach resident.

According to police, the victim remains in critical — but stable — condition.
