2 Bodies Found In Man-Made 'Cave' In Northridge

A white powdery substance was observed also inside, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Firefighters found two dead bodies "inside of a human-dug cave/excavation" in Northridge, authorities said Sunday.

The discovery was reported around 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 8700 N. Lindley Ave., near the intersection of Parthenia Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A white powdery substance was observed also inside, the department said. LAFD hazardous materials specialists scanned the area and found all readings normal, adding that wind dissipated the small amounts of powder initially observed.
