Amtrak Victim Identified as Sun Valley Man

He was walking along the tracks when he was hit by the southbound Surfliner train.

Authorities Monday identified a man who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Chatsworth.

Christopher Vazquez, 27, of Sun Valley, died at the scene about 9 p.m. Saturday near Winnetka Avenue and Nordhoff Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Vazquez was walking along the tracks when he was hit by the southbound Amtrak Surfliner train, which was going from Goleta to Los Angeles, the LAPD reported.

The last person hit by an Amtrak train in Chatsworth was Phyllis Tunson, who was struck and killed at the Chatsworth depot on Dec. 29.
