OVER 100 RIDERS PARTICIPATE IN TRAIL DUSTERS RIDE AT BONELLI PARK

Over 100 riders joined County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich, his wife Christine, and children Michael, Jr. and Mary Christine on his semi-annual trail ride Sunday, October 16th through the scenic trails of Frank Bonelli Park in San Dimas.

A supporter of trail expansion and the equestrian lifestyle in Los Angeles County, Mayor Antonovich said, “Preservation and expansion of our trails, parks and open space are vital to improving the quality of life for our residents across the County.”

WASTE-TO-CLEAN ENERGY FACITLITY UNVEILED AT CHIQUITA CANYON LANDFILL

Along with representatives from Ameresco and the Chiquita Canyon Landfill, Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich dedicated a new 9.2 Mega Watt Clean Energy Facility at the Santa Clarita Valley’s Chiquita Canyon Landfill. 

Reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 45,000 tons, the new clean energy facility captures methane gas produced from the natural process of decomposition at the landfill, converts the gas into energy using two solar M50 Turbines, and puts it on the grid where the cities of Pasadena and Burbank purchase it for use in homes and businesses

HART PONY BASEBALL TEAM WINS WORLD SERIES

Mayor Antonovich honored the 2011 Hart Mustang Red Baseball Team on winning the World Series for the second year in a row at the Board of Supervisors weekly meeting.

This team is composed of a group of 13 exceptional athletes from the William S. Hart PONY league in Santa Clarita.  The team has an overall 34 – 7 record with a team batting average of .440 and an ERA of 3.74.

Hart baseball attracts the most talented players from all over including boys from Antelope and San Fernando Valleys.

ANTONOVICH COMMEMORATES TECHNOLOGY WEEK IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY

At the Business Technology Center in Altadena, Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich awarded the High Technology Leader award to Dan Sarnoff, president of DSKR Productions LLC, Tim Sarnoff, president of Technicolor Digital Productions and Tom Sarnoff, president of Sarnoff Entertainment Corporation. 

Tom Sarnoff was former executive vice president of NBC and was Chairman of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Tom’s father David initiated NBC and young Tom’s voice was the first ever heard on television eighty years ago.

Tim Sarnoff is president of Technicolor Digital Productions and oversees the planning and production of world-class visual effects for motion pictures, broadcast and computer animation projects including Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and the Academy-Award winning Spider-Man™ 2 as well as nominations on eight additional films.

At the forefront of the internet, Dan Sarnoff is the CEO of Gamebay.com, a company represents the bulk of the transactional data base systems and progressive jackpot games which have become the core of the Native American gaming industry.  He is also President of TV Games, Inc., a subsidiary of multimedia games engaged in developing TV game shows.

The Business Technology Center, a project of the Community Development Commission of Los Angeles County was initiated by Supervisor Antonovich in 1998 and remains the largest technology incubator in California.  The BTC helps to develop high technology firms by providing office space, business management assistance, technical assistance, and the coordination of available financial resources

ANTONOVICH HONORED AS “PARK HERO” FOR EXPANDING TRAILS, OPEN SPACE AND PARKS

People for Parks honored Los Angeles County Mayor Michael D. Antonovich with the 2011 “Park Heroes” award for his effort to expand, develop and maintain county parks, garden, golf courses, trails and open space areas.

“Our public parks are often the glue that holds the community together and the means to maintaining and improving future positive social interactions,” said Antonovich. “During these challenging times our county has been able to keep our parks open and able to expand and improve our park infrastructure.”

UPCOMING EVENTS

52nd Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks and Mortuaries. The free community event will feature skydivers; a military vehicle display; patriotic musical arrangements; a presentation of the Presidential Proclamation, and more than 100 local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will serve as volunteers for guest services. Complimentary souvenirs will be presented to all attendees. The event takes place at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills-Forecourt of the Birth of Liberty, on Friday November 11, 2011 at 11am.
