CA Assembly District 45: Gabriel Wins Reelection

Incumbent Jesse Gabriel has beaten Republican challenger Jeffi Girgenti.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — The AP has declared that Jesse Gabriel has beaten challenger Jeffi Girgenti to represent Assembly District 45.

The two competed last week to represent Assembly District 45, which runs from Encino to Calabasas and encompasses most of the West Valley.

Gabriel, a 39-year-old Encino resident, is a constitutional and general litigation attorney elected to the State Assembly in June 2018. He currently serves as Assistant Majority Whip, and is also Chair of the Select Committee on Jobs and Innovation in the San Fernando Valley, and a member of the Select Committee on Women's Reproductive Health.

Gabriel has championed efforts to address California's housing and homelessness crisis, strengthen public education, fight climate change, pass gun safety measures, and protect vulnerable communities. He has also fought to increase COVID testing, provide PPE to healthcare workers, and provide emergency financial relief to small businesses.

Girgenti is a small business owner who won in a write-in contest against Gabriel. She lists repealing AB5, increasing penalties for the mentally ill, protecting Proposition 13, and supporting charter schools as her top priorities.
