Updated: Chatsworth Man Among 14 Indicted in High-Flying Hollywood Cocaine Ring

Drugs were airlifted from Los Angeles to Baltimore and suitcases of cash were flown back, prosecutors say.

A Chatsworth man is among 14 indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday for allegedly using private planes to transport narcotics and drug money across the country.

Alleged ringleader Ricky ''DP'' James Brascom, 28, of Woodland Hills, and four other people were in federal custody, prosecutors told City News Service, while four more were being sought. The remaining five people were listed in the indictment as unidentified fugitives.

Heriberto Lopez, 42, of Chatsworth, who was also known as ''The Boss'' and ''Big Dog,'' was allegedly Brascom's primary cocaine supplier, prosecutors told CNS.

The investigation, dubbed ''Operation Snow Bird,'' focused on a Hollywood-based drug trafficking ring using the moniker Behind da Scenes Entertainment. The ring allegedly purchased large quantities of cocaine, arranged for it to be flown from the Los Angeles area to Baltimore, oversaw distribution of the cocaine and flew suitcases of cash back to Los Angeles, the U.S. Attorney's Office told CNS.

''This operation demonstrates the poisoning lure of drugs and money that continue to impact our communities,'' said special agent Timothy J. Landrum of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

If convicted of all charges, the defendants face a maximum of life in federal prison, according to prosecutors.
