Chatsworth Neighborhood Council To Elect 10 New Members
Come March 19, the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council will fill 10 open seats.

CHATSWORTH, CA — The deadline is fast approaching to become a candidate for one of ten Chatsworth Neighborhood Council seats, which will be filled in March.
On March 19, Chatsworth locals will have the chance to fill 10 open seats for two year appointments. The neighborhood council has 21 seats in total.
The Chatsworth Neighborhood Council is part of the Los Angeles City government. There are 99 neighborhood councils in the city which offer communities more localized representation, according to the city. While neighborhood councils receive budgets from the city, council positions are volunteer-based.

Anyone over the age of 18 who lives, owns a business, boards at least one horse or participates in the Chatsworth community can apply to serve on the council until Feb. 4. Selection will take place on March 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chatsworth Train Depot, located at 10038 Old Depot Plaza Road.
This year's election will happen by fully mail. People over the age of 16 who live, work, or participate in Chatsworth organizations can register and request a mail-in ballot on the neighborhood council's website.

"Neighborhood Councils are the closest form of government to the people. They are advisory bodies, who advocate for their communities with City Hall on important issues like development, homelessness, and emergency preparedness," said the city's department of neighborhood empowerment on its website.
