Yesterday, Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman of Sherman Oaks helped mark the fourth anniversary of the January 6th, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol.

In a statement released by his office, Sherman lamented that fateful day four years ago as "a day that shook the foundations of our democracy" and "an unprecedented assault on the very heart of our democratic process".
While noting that progress in defending democracy has been made in the four years since the assault on the Capitol, Congressman Sherman stressed that "the work of protecting our democracy is far from over."

In order to effectively safeguard our democratic system, Sherman emphasized the need to adhere to "the ideals of democracy, the rule of law, and the peaceful transfer of power."
Sherman concluded with a strong call towards unity: "Let us remember that what unites us as Americans is far greater than what divides us. Together, we can ensure that the promise of democracy endures for generations to come."
