Firefighters Snuff Blaze Beside 118 Freeway

Auto fire spreads into the brush.

Firefighters knocked down a one-acre brushfire at the 118-Freeway and Topanga Canyon Boulevard early Sunday evening.

The fire spread from a burning car and both Los Angeles and Ventura County fire departments responded to the scene, according to Erik Scott, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Ground forces and a helicopter attacked the 6:19 p.m. blaze which was extinguished in 33 minutes, Scott said.
