Simi Valley Brush Fire: Forward Progress Stopped

Firefighters on Monday stopped a half-acre brush fire near the state Route 118 in Simi Valley.

CHATSWORTH, CA — The Ventura County Fire Department on Monday stopped a half-acre brush fire near the state Route 118, Ronald Reagan Freeway.

The fire was first spotted 11:35 a.m. from the Kuehner Drive offramp in Simi Valley. It grew to be a half-acre over about 35 minutes, according to California Highway Patrol and VCFD. Firefighters stopped the fire's forward progress around 12:10 p.m., according to VCFD.

CHP shut multiple lanes on the Ronald Reagan Freeway with no immediate time estimate on their reopening. There was significant traffic on the eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway around Kuehner Drive on Monday afternoon.

Fire crews remained on scene after the fire was extinguished to clean the area.
