Germain, Superior Schools Losing Title I Funds

and elementary schools in Chatsworth are among nine Valley schools to lose Title I funding because the school board voted Tuesday to redirect the money to schools with more impoverished students.

Federal Title I money helps pay for things like dropout specialists, counselors and after-school programs.

Board member Tamar Galatzan cast the only dissenting vote as the board stripped Title I funds from Knollwood, Germain, Nestle, Superior, Dearborn and Hamlin Elementary, Nobel Middle School, Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies and Millikan Middle School.
