Are our children learning in safe school buildings?

How do you protect yourself during an earthquake? If your child is at school during the Big One, what should he or she do to stay safe? Are schools a good place for disaster shelters? The American Red Cross Los Angeles Region will be answering your questions in an exclusive Twitter chat with @CaliforniaWatch.

There is a 99.7 percent chance that a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake will strike the Golden State in the next three decades, according to state scientists. It’s imperative to be prepared and understand the basic science of quakes, especially when it comes to the safety of the more than 6 million children in California public schools.
