LAPD Plans DUI Crackdown In West Valley

Beginning Thursday, the LAPD is deploying extra officers to crack down on intoxicated driving.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Over the next few days, the LAPD will deploy additional officers for saturation patrols and DUI checkpoints aimed at getting intoxicated drivers off the road.

Checkpoints are slated across the city including in South Los Angeles, Mid-City and the Harbor area. Saturation patrols are planned for the West San Fernando Valley.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the LAPD.

  • DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Florence Avenue and Main Street in South Los Angeles

  • DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at La Cienega Boulevard and Sawyer Street in Mid-City
  • DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Slauson Avenue and Figueroa Street in South LA

Saturday, Feb. 24

  • DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Western Avenue and 247th Street in South LA

Sunday, Feb. 25

  • DUI saturation patrol from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in West Valley Area

Monday, Feb. 26

  • DUI saturation patrol from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Topanga Area (Canoga Park, West Hills, Winnetka, Woodland Hills)
