LAPD's White Supremacist Tweet Result Of Hacking
The Los Angeles Police Department's Twitter account was hacked Monday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An apparent hack of the Los Angeles Police Department's Twitter account resulted in an unauthorized posting that seemed to accuse the agency of racism.
The tweet on the account @LAPDHQ, which read, "lapdWHITE SUPREMACISTS," appeared at 1:53 p.m. and was taken down within minutes.
It was replaced with a message, posted 2:40 p.m., that read, "We are aware that our #LAPD account was compromised and are taking the proper steps to resolve the issue."

A spokesman said the LAPD had no further comment.
Earlier today the LAPD’s Headquarters Twitter account was compromised. It appears the cause was a vulnerability in a third-party social media app. We have, and will continue to work with @Twitter to take additional steps to protect our social media accounts
