Northridge-Chatsworth Gas Price Drops for 28th Straight Day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gas in Northridge-Chatsworth dropped today for the 28th consecutive day to $5.43.

NORTHRIDGE-CHATSWORTH, CA -- The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 28th consecutive day, decreasing 2.7 cents to $5.439.

The average price has dropped 87.6 cents over the past 28 days, including 4.2 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The decreasing prices follow a run of 23 increases in 25 days totaling 91.8 cents.

The average price is 19.2 cents less than one week ago, 72.3 cents lower than one month ago and 26.6 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has dropped $1.055 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

``Most Southern California drivers should now be able to find gas stations near them charging less than $5 a gallon,'' Automobile Club of Southern California spokesman Doug Shupe said.

The national average price dropped for the 29th consecutive day and 37th time in 39 days, decreasing 1.3 cents to $3.518. It has dropped 36.3 cents over the past 39 days, including 1 cent Thursday.

The national average price is 4 cents less than one week ago, 31.4 cents lower than one month ago and 24.2 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has dropped $1.498 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

The run of dropping prices follows an 11-day streak of increases totaling 7.8 cents.
