A commercial crane with a ruptured fuel tank spilled more than 80 gallons on to the 118 Freeway Tuesday, according to Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the incident in the eastbound lanes at the De Soto Avenue off-ramp in Chatsworth shortly after noon. A SigAlert was declared as traffic began to back up. A CalTrans truck arrived on the scene with a flashing "SLOW" sign.
Firefighters were able to contain the spill in about 45 minutes and there were no reports of fuel running into any storm drains. However, cleanup continued into the afternoon.
