Though the disease does not affect humans, precautions will be taken to ensure dogs from the shelter do not give it to residents' dogs and incoming dogs, KTLA reported. Incoming dogs without the virus will be sent to East Valley Animal Shelter and infected incoming dogs will be quarantined.
