SigAlert: Pile-Up Jams 5 Freeway Near 405 Transition

A four-car crash in the Sylmar area created havoc on the morning rush hour in the northeastern San Fernando Valley.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An hour-long SigAlert was issued for the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Sylmar area Tuesday morning following a four-car pile-up, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 7:50 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway just northbound of the San Diego (405) Freeway near Sylmar. At 8:03 a.m., the CHP issued a SigAlert expected to last about an hour as four vehicles blocked the middle lanes of the freeway.

Comuters were advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
