Street Closures Begin For Metro's New Valley Train Construction
Expect detours in the San Fernando Valley over the next 10 to 12 weeks as Metro continues work on its new light rail line.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Lanes of several streets in the San Fernando Valley will be shut down weekends over the next 10 to 12 weeks as Metro continues construction on the new train line.
The street closures will occur from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday as crews work to remove asphalt, install rebar and place concrete. They will also shore up a storm drain pipe at the Van Nuys G Line Station.
The closures will impact Van Nuys Boulevard from Oxnard Street to Delano Street in Van Nuys. Metro has created a detour route:

- Northbound Van Nuys Boulevard between Oxnard Street and Calvert Street will be closed
- Traffic will be detoured left on Oxnard Street, right on Kester Avenue and right on Victory Boulevard before returning to Van Nuys Boulevard
- Southbound Van Nuys Boulevard lanes will be reduced to one lane between Delano Street and Oxnard Street
- Bus Lines 233, 237 and 761 traveling northbound on Van Nuys Boulevard will be detoured right on Oxnard Avenue, left onto Hazeltine Avenue, left on Victory Boulevard and back to Van Nuys Boulevard.
Southbound bus line service will not be impacted by weekend construction.

When the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project is completed in 2031, it will include a train line connecting Van Nuys, Panorama City, Arleta and Pacoima along Van Nuys Boulevard, one of the busiest corridors in the Valley.
