24 Citations, 2 Arrests Made At DUI Checkpoint In Marin County
Over 1,300 drivers were contacted during a DUI checkpoint that led to two arrests.
NOVATO, CA — One driver was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and possessing drugs and another was arrested for an active warrant for a DUI Friday at a checkpoint in Novato, police said.
The Novato Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint Friday on the westbound lanes of De Long Avenue and Redwood Boulevard.
At the checkpoint, police said they contacted 1,333 drivers, screened 61 cars, cited 24 unlicensed drivers, including one for driving with a suspended license, arrested one driver for having a warrant for a previous DUI and having a suspended license for a DUI, and arrested one person for driving under the influence of drugs and possessing drugs.

"DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads," police said.
