Organizers of Marin County’s Veterans Day ceremonies in Marin City on Nov. 11 are in need of a couple of convertibles to carry dignitaries in a parade. Do you have a convertible? Would you be willing to participate?
Several Tuskegee Airmen, plus wives and widows, are to take part in a special day at the Manzanita Recreation Center. Introductions of the airmen from the all-black World War II flying unit will be introduced and honored during the parade, which starts at 11 a.m., and at a ceremony at 2 p.m. following a barbecue lunch.
There will be a public screening of Lucasfilms documentary “Double Victory,” which tells the Tuskegee Airmen’s story in their own words. In addition, a featured monologue will be presented by a single character with the role of Gen. Benjamin Davis, a Tuskegee veteran who became a general in 1998. The monologue will be presented by Performing Stars of Marin and the Marin Theater Company.
