The following is an official release from the office of Sen. Mark Leno, who represents District 3 (including Novato) in the state Senate.
Dear Friends,

This year has been one of success and struggle for many Californians. In 2011, we witnessed a few encouraging signs of economic recovery and we significantly reduced the state’s structural budget deficit. Unfortunately, we were not able to raise new revenues for the state, so the budget cuts resulted in great sacrifice to our schools, universities, health care and social services. Our fiscal crisis continues to bring hardship to working families, children, students, and disabled and elderly Californians. As Chair of the Senate Budget Committee, I am committed to redoubling my efforts in 2012 to work with you and my colleagues in the Legislature to help bring new jobs and prosperity back to our state.
It is an honor to serve as your Senator, and I look forward to continuing to work on so many of the issues we care about in the New Year. Please feel free to contact my office if you have questions, ideas, or need assistance.

Warmly,
Senator Mark Leno
