Baseball Great Lefty Gomez Recalled in New Book
Yankee great, who lived his retirement years in Novato, was the undisputed king of quip.
The name of Lefty Gomez recently got some publicity here in Novato when a plaque honoring the New York Yankees great was stolen from a small monument at the San Marin High School baseball diamond. It has not been recovered.
But Dave Albee, a longtime sportswriter at the Marin Independent Journal before taking a job at Dominican University of California, just wrote a piece for the IJ about a new book on Gomez. We're sharing that link with you along with a couple of YouTube clips about Gomez's life.
