Celebrate Diversity At This Marin County Town's Third Annual Family History Day

Locals will share their families' history, including some that have been around for over 100 years.

NOVATO, CA — The third annual Novato Family History Day on Oct. 18 will celebrate the city's rich history and diverse community.

Families who will share their stories include the Young family, owners of Pini Hardware — established 1918 — and the family of Bill Almeida, Novato's legendary Postmaster.

Also participating are Mary Black Burdell, sponsored by Friends of Olompali, and the family of Andy Sun, Novato residents who escaped Cambodia after the Vietnam War and were processed through the Hamilton Transit Center.

The organizations represented are the Novato Garden Club, established in 1934, Novato Historical Guild, Novato History Museum, Hamilton Field History Museum, Novato Unified School District, School Fuel, Hamilton K-8 School Hispanic Mother's Club and North Marin Community Services.

Free family history kits, available in English and Spanish, books and other materials are available for pickup.
