Desperate Cries for Help Not So Desperate After All
The following information from Aug. 22-23 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliners:
5:43 p.m., Aug. 22 — A girl was screaming "help me!" and "somebody call the cops!" out of a window on Oliva Drive. The girl was upset because her 14-year-old brother would not let her use the computer. The mother was contacted and advice was given.
10:04 p.m., Aug. 22 — A child was heard screaming "help me!" and crying from a home on Scotia Court. The father at the residence said his daughter did not want to go to bed. Advice was given to the father and daughter.

Aug. 22
11:54 a.m. — Someone reported a man in a white panel van sitting watching kids at Olive Elementary School on Plum Street. The man said he only stopped his van to talk on his cell phone and did not have a view of the children from his parked position.

3:16 p.m. — A resident of Renata Court believes her home was burglarized and believes she sees one of her items for sale on eBay. She provided a list of missing items and possible suspect information.
3:49 p.m. — A 9-year-old child called to say he was scared because his mother wasn't home when he got home from school. The mother arrived about 10 minutes later.
5:12 p.m. — A resident of the 1400 block of Chase Street said his Chevy Silverado was broken into over the weekend and all tires and wheels were stolen.
5:19 p.m. — A man who appeared to be confused was reportedly exposing himself near Star Restaurant on Seventh Street. The subject was gone on arrival of police, but later seen and contacted. He was found to be in violation of a restraining order.
6:00 p.m. — Two subjects in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard were accused of using a lottery scam to defraud a person of $6,000.
6:01 p.m. — Someone reported a stack of crumpled papers burning in the backyard of a residence on Partridge Court. A neighbor was suspected. The burned papers were determined to be love letters.
9:23 p.m. — Officers answered to an ongoing dispute between 14-year-old neighbors on Hathaway Drive. Advice was given to property management and to subjects regarding a restraining order.
Aug. 23
9:10 a.m. — A grandparent reported that a granddaughter was not returning a house key and running up a phone bill at a residence in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard. Advice was given about evicting the girl, but the grandparent refused.
9:21 a.m. — Someone reported a man exposing himself and urinating in front of a business before leaving on a bus in Ignacio. The subject was gone on police arrival.
10:59 a.m. — A hostile and disruptive student was reported at the Hill Education Center on Hill Road. The student, who is on probation, used profanity toward school personnel in front of other students, faculty and parents.
3:26 p.m. —A fight involving several people was reported on Seventh Street. A brother and sister were challenged to a fight by a suspect who then threw a punch at the brother. Four suspects fled in a blue minivan. The victim declined medical attention.
5:15 p.m. — An accident involving four cars was reported in front of the Novato Library. One person had complaints of pain.
7:15 p.m. — A person was arrested in the 1400 block of South Novato Boulevard on suspicion of being drunk in public and possession of a dagger.
10:08 p.m. — A 14-year-old boy with a history of running away did not arrive home on Hathaway Drive as expected from football practice. The boy is on probation.
