A sign came down and job postings went up for Hopmonk Tavern Novato, which is slated to open in November.

The restaurant/music venue at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center is in the midst of replacing the Southern Pacific Smokehouse, a business that failed in high-profile fashion last December less than a year after its ownership group poured $2 million into it.

Dean Biersch of Hopmonk Tavern announced in July that he'd make a few changes and reopen the place to match the style and vibe of his two successful taverns in Sebastopol and Sonoma. Interior and exterior work are moving swiftly at the site, which is on Vintage Way and within view of Highway 101 traffic.
