Sports run deep in Novato, and Novato High School has long been at the heart of it. It’s no surprise some standout talent once wore the Hornet uniform. Today we're celebrating five unforgettable athletes from Novato High School who made a name for themselves well beyond the hometown field.


1. Mike Moroski - Head Coach (College of Idaho) & Former NFL Player (Atlanta Falcons)

A Hornet alum, Moroski was a two-time Far West Conference Player of the Year at UC Davis before being drafted to the Atlanta Falcons in 1979. He is currently the Head Coach at the College of Idaho. (Source: YOTEAthletics.com)


2. Eric Richardson - Former NFL Wide Receiver (Buffalo Bills)

Another football alum from Novato High, Richardson was honored as a NEA Second-Team All-American at San Jose State before being drafted in the second round of the 1984 draft by the Buffalo Bills. (Source: ProFootballReference.com)

3. Ellen Estes Lee - Water Polo Hall of Famer (Team USA)

A two-sport athlete at Novato, Lee was an NCAA Champion at Stanford and an Olympian, winning a silver medal in 2000 and a bronze in 2004. She was inducted into the Water Polo Hall of Fame in 2012. (Source: USAWaterPolo.org)


4. Sue Corder - Basketball Hall of Famer (University of San Francisco)

A three-sport alum, Corder was an elite scorer at Novato as well as at the University of San Francisco, where she won the “Rock Award” her freshman year and was selected to the All-Tournament team in three seasons. She is a USF Hall of Famer. (USFDons.com)

5. John Kostecki - Sailor (Team USA)
