Junior Golfers Test Their Nerves at Marin Country Club
22nd Annual Corena Green Classic tournament was a rousing success.
More than 100 girls from the greater Bay Area convened Monday at in Novato for the 22nd Annual Corena Green Classic golf tournament.
Lauren Kim from Palo Alto Hills Country Club emerged as the champion with a gross score of 33 over nine holes. Taylor Coover from Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill was second and Meredith Hirsch of Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton placed third.
Also, 8-year-old Kiana Briggs of Novato, member of Marin CC, finished first in her flight.

The event drew 102 girls ranging in age from 8-17, with more than $5,200 given out in prize money toward college educations for the top 13 players.
Representing the future of women's golf, the girls tested their their nerves in what was for many their first golf tournament. Each of the flight winners in all age groups took home trophies to commemorate and no one left empty-handed with tee prizes and memories of a wonderful day.

The event was sponsored by the Women’s Nine Hole Golf Association. Corena Green was a former director with WNHGA, and it was her vision to create a golf tournament for young girls to help promote the future of women’s golf.
