Knife Attack Sends Man To The Hospital In Marin County: Police

NOVATO, CA — A 38-year-old man was arrested after fighting a woman and attacking a witness with a knife Wednesday night in Novato, police said.

Novato Police Department officers said they arrested Anthony Richard Pacheco, 38, of Novato and booked him into the Marin County Jail for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, obstructing police and violation terms of his probation.

At around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, police said they received a report that a man and a woman were fighting around the intersection of Alameda Del Prado and Ignacio Boulevard.

Officers said a witness attempted to intervene when they saw the man pull out a knife.

The witness told police he defended himself with his hands and suffered a knife wound that was non life-threatening.

The attacker fled to his apartment where officers negotiated with him until he surrendered, police said.
