Neighbor Child Goes on Smear Campaign — Then Has to Wipe it Up

The following information from Aug. 27-28 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

9:18 p.m., Aug. 28 — A woman said her Toyota Sienna van was smeared with feces in the 600 block of Cutlass Drive. She suspects a young neighbor. Prior to police arrival, the woman contacted the parents of the child and the parents made the child clean it up.

9:29 a.m. — A woman is reported to be bathing in a Pioneer Park bathroom and won't leave. She was asked to move along.

11:00 a.m. — Someone carrying a 2-month old baby took a fall on a sidewalk at Arthur and Hayes streets. The baby was uninjured and the adult suffered a knee injury. A case was taken for a trip hazard on city property.

11:22 a.m. — A noninjury crash was reported at Olive Avenue and Redwood Boulevard. A school bus with no children on it collided with a silver VW van. The bus mechanic was doing a road test.

12:10 p.m. — A stolen Ford F150 pickup from Emeryville was located in the 200 block of Alameda del Prado.

12:12 p.m. — An unlocked bike was stolen from the front yard of a residence off Olive Avenue.

12:56 p.m. — About 2,000 to 3,000 rounds of ammunition were found in the bed of a red Toyota pickup in the 700 block of McClay Road. The rounds may be suitable for training if usable or set for destruction if not.

2:13 p.m. — A hit-and-run collision was reported in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard. A store employee saw the driver of a red Nissan Versa strike a parked car.

2:34 p.m. — Two people found to have mental disorders got into an argument in the 1300 block of Seventh Street and threats were made. Advice was given.

2:49 p.m. — A backpack containing miscellaneous items including marijuana and other narcotics was found in the 1300 block of Hamilton Parkway. There was no identifying information inside so it was taken for destruction.

3:43 p.m. — A resident reported an unstable power pole near the intersection of Center Road and St. Francis Avenue. A PG&E technician responded and said it would be made safe for pedestrians and motorists nearby.

5:42 p.m. — The rear window of a vehicle inside a garage on Western Drive was smashed. The reporting party said she heard a noise and thought it was a raccoon.

8:28 p.m. — Two drivers got into an argument at Highland Drive and Woodfern Court and one threatened the other. The reporting party was found to be an equal instigator in the incident.

7:17 p.m. — Someone reported two boys throwing rocks onto Highway 101 from a spot along Alameda del Prado. Officers did not locate the suspects.

7:44 p.m. — Someone reported a man poking a stick through the cracked window of a vehicle to try and open it near Third Street at Grant Avenue. The suspect fled to Redwood Boulevard and was tracked down. He was found to have a warrant out for his arrest, and officers transported him to Marin County Jail. The vehicle was undamaged.

9:46 p.m. — Eight people got into a verbal confrontation on Modoc Place. One person was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Aug. 28

12:14 a.m. — A resident at an assisted care facility on Hill Road is out of control and hitting staff members. The subject was transported to Marin General Hospital at the request of staff.

7:35 a.m. — Someone ripped a stereo out of a silver Nissan Sentra parked on Seagull Row.

11:23 a.m. — A woman on Clayton Court said her sister left for Mexico in July with a boyfriend and she has been unable to reach her by phone for six weeks. A missing person flier was completed and distributed.

8:32 a.m. — A noninjury crash between three vehicles was reported at Bolling Drive at Marin Valley Drive.

12:00 p.m. — An employee on Rush Creek Place is receiving harassing phone calls from someone with an Indian accent. The caller said he wouldn't stop calling until receiving $300 from a debt. The phone number prefix is in New York City.

2:13 p.m. — A noninjury crash between three vehicles was reported at Bel Marin Keys Boulevard at Commercial Boulevard.

4:50 p.m. — A small tanbark fire was reported in the center median in the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard. It was extinguished by firefighters and was not deemed suspicious.

5:18 p.m. — A woman said another woman got into her vehicle while it was parked at Novato Community Hospital and took out a dog. The suspect believed the dog was in distress. No violations took place.

6:30 p.m. — A resident in the 800 block of Tamalpais Avenue said he came home to find his door unlocked, a video game and controllers missing. A possible suspect was identified.

10:08 p.m. — An identity theft was reported by a resident of Cambridge Street. Someone opened an account in the person's name when some personal information was mailed to an incorrect address. About $9,000 was charged to the victim's account.

11:53 p.m. —Someone in the 1100 block of Third Street reported receiving a text that a woman had slit her wrists. Upon investigation, the woman had only sent a photo of a small cut on her elbow to her husband.
