Novato Police Ask Public For Help Identifying Burglar

A home burglary last week prompted a shelter-in-place alert as multiple agencies searched for the man.

NOVATO, CA — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect involved in a Novato home burglary on Thursday night.

At 7:17 p.m., officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress in the 200 block of Marin Valley Drive.

Officers said the homeowner said the suspect fled and ran towards a creek north of Bolling Drive.

Police issued a shelter-in-place alert in the surrounding area as officers from multiple law enforcement agencies and a police helicopter from the California Highway Patrol searched the area.

Officers describe the suspect as a Hispanic man in this thirties wearing a baseball cap, none green shirt and brown pants. He allegedly was armed with a four to six-inch knife.

Police were unable to find the suspect despite their search.

Residents are encouraged to check their surveillance cameras for any footage of the suspect.
