Passerby Picks Up Boy, 5, Who Wandered Away from School
The following information from Aug. 29-30 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:
1:47 p.m., Aug. 30 — A 5-year-old boy walked away from Hamilton Meadow Park School on Nave Drive during lunchtime. The reporting party is trying to contact the parents. A woman who saw the boy walking alone on San Pablo Avenue returned the boy to class. The boy was counseled about leaving school.

7:54 a.m. — A minor collision between a large SUV and a bicyclist was reported in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.
10:32 p.m. — A man on Plaza Hermosa called to say that he woke up to find a woman standing over him with a five-pound weight and was threatening to hit him with it. Officers found that the woman was evaluated for mental health issues earlier on this date.

11:12 p.m. — An arson was investigated on a hillside off Carmel Drive and Seventh Street. One man was arrested and booked. Click here for a story on this incident.
2:15 p.m. — A noninjury collision was reported at San Marin Drive and San Ramon Way between a white Toyota Sienna and a white sedan.
2:34 p.m. — Police contacted six juveniles about the report of political signs being taken down near the corner of Sixth Street and Grant Avenue. The subjects said they were upset about an anti-Obama message, threw some pamphlets and engaged in a verbal dispute. There was no merit to vandalism.
3:40 p.m. — A tent with some belongings inside was found on vacant school district property near San Andreas Drive and San Marin Drive. A report was taken on a homeless encampment.
7:04 p.m. — Someone reported seeing a boy of about 10 years old cruising around the area of Laurie Drive and Paladini Road on a golf cart. Officers did not locate the boy.
7:08 p.m. — A statue worth about $300 and a basketball hoop were taken from the front yard of a residence in the 1400 block of Pastel Lane.
8:56 p.m. — A resident reported suspicious activity in the 500 block of Loleta Lane and believes it is ongoing drug activity. One person was cited and released.
11:05 p.m. — A man was seen running around in a longsleeve sweatshirt but no pants on and bleeding from the mouth near the intersection of Arthur Street and South Novato Boulevard. The man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness.
Aug. 30
1:55 a.m. — A resident of Portsmouth Drive said somebody threw a rock through his window.
5:22 p.m. — A tree on De Long Avenue near Whole Foods appeared to be smoking. The reporting party put some water on it, but it's still smoking. The Novato Fire District responded to smoldering vegetation in a drainage gutter and soaked the area.
7:18 a.m. — Windows and rear-view mirrors on 12 vehicles were smashed in the 600 block of Rush Landing Road. There was no video surveillance of the area. Damage was estimated at $11,000.
8:11 a.m. — About $1,000 worth of tools were reported missing from a storage unit on Deer Island Lane.
8:12 a.m. — A car owner reported a hit-and-run in the parking lot of a business in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue. No suspect information was gathered.
8:53 a.m. — A terrified woman called to report that her husband has been missing for two days from their home in the 1800 block of Center Road and there is a stranger in her house claiming to be her husband of 59 years. The case was referred to Adult Protection Services.
1:34 p.m. — A noninjury collision was reported on South Novato Boulevard at Gateway Court.
3:10 p.m. — An employee at a business at Pacheco Plaza saw a man conceal items in his pants and walk out of the store. The employee confronted him and reclaimed the items.
3:18 p.m. — Fireworks and flares were confiscated from a home on Lamont Avenue and labeled for destruction.
4:37 p.m. — Someone watching a homeless person riding a bike in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard recognized the bike as his own, stolen two years ago. The reporting party insists the bike is his and identifies specific parts that were on his bike, which had not been reported as stolen.
7:09 p.m. — A proprietor at Red Boy Pizza on Diablo Avenue said a woman has called more than 50 times complaining about pizza prices. Calls are interrupting business. The caller was contacted and advised not to call anymore.
7:51 p.m. — A man with missing teeth who was selling candy bars door to door on Laurie Drive was notified that he was selling items without a permit.
10:23 p.m. — Someone on Chase Street received about 10 threatening texts from another person. Both subjects were found to be sending numerous texts to each other and challenged each other to a fight. An investigation is ongoing.
11:44 p.m. — A person was found bleeding from the face after being attacked at a bus stop in the 7500 block of Redwood Boulevard. A case was taken for attempted robbery.
