NOVATO, CA — The 14-year-old girl injured in a hit-and-runcrash last week in Novato has died, police announced on Friday.

The Novato Police Department reported a major car crash at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. The accident occurred on Ignacio Boulevard, between Palmer Drive and Entrada Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a white Ford Edge SUV with significant damage, believed to have hit a tree in the center median. Two teenage passengers were found inside, but the driver, Corea, had already fled the scene of what officers suspect was a single-vehicle accident, police said.

Police reported Wednesday that the 14-year-old girl was being treated for critical injuries at a regional trauma center.

The other injured passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was in stable condition at a local hospital Wednesday and has since been released, police said on Friday.
