Teen Girl Drugged, Assaulted After Contact On Social Media: Police
A suspect from the Bay Area has been arrested.
NOVATO, CA — A Fremont man suspected of drugging and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Novato last week has been arrested, police said Monday.
Omar Shirkhan, 20, pretended to be a 15-year-old on social media in the weeks leading up to the alleged assault, authorities said.
The victim contacted police about 3 p.m. on Dec. 27, saying that she had been sexually assaulted. Police determined the alleged attack occurred earlier that morning in a parked car.

Officers received information about the suspect's location and found his car, but once the suspect spotted them, he fled.
His description was broadcast to Marin County law enforcement agencies, and within 15 minutes a sheriff's deputy spotted his car headed south on U.S. Highway 101 near Lucas Valley Road.

He was pulled over in San Rafael and taken into custody without incident. Shirkhan was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of crimes that include rape of a drugged victim, unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, and arranging to meet with a minor to commit a sex offense.
Shirkhan is currently being held on $500,000 bail.
