Donate Blood, Get A Gift Card In Oceanside: Blood Drives

OCEANSIDE, CA — The American Red Cross is asking donors to fall into donating blood or platelets.

The season has changed, but the organization's need for blood remains the same.

Oceanside residents can help. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with type O blood, those giving platelets and those who have never given before, according to the Red Cross.

"Only 3 out of 100 Americans donate blood," the Red Cross said in a news release. "With the blood supply still at critical levels, every single donation is key to making sure all patients relying on lifesaving transfusions, including car accident victims and those living with sickle cell disease, get the care they need."

The Red Cross has planned blood drives across San Diego County.

Donors who give blood or platelets by Sept. 30 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice. Those who donate Oct. 1-31 will receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email.
